LAHORE: Lahore Police carried out a comprehensive crackdown against law violators during Eid ul Fitr, arresting dozens of suspects, police spokesperson said on Tuesday.

According to the spokesperson, 40 individuals involved in one-wheeling and three accused of aerial firing were arrested during Chand Raat and the Eid holidays. During the operation, 26 suspects found in possession of illegal weapons and 353 individuals involved in kite flying were also taken into custody.
Police further claimed to have recovered one gun, 20 pistols, one rifle, 460 kites and 167 spools from the arrested suspects. Cases have been registered against the accused at various police stations across the city.
Capital City Police Officer Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana said that the police remained on high alert to ensure the safety of citizens’ lives and property during Eid ul Fitr. He added that special teams remained actively engaged to curb aerial firing, one-wheeling, and kite flying.
He further said that the Dolphin Squad ensured effective patrolling and timely response, while the Lady Patrolling Squad was deployed at public places to enhance the security of women and children.
The CCPO said that the traffic police took effective measures to maintain smooth traffic flow during Eid, adding that all wings of the Lahore Police demonstrated excellent coordination and teamwork.
