LAHORE: A large gathering of traders, industrialists, Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) representatives and supporters attended a grand dinner and power show organised by the Darogha Wala Industrial Owners Association, North Lahore Trade and Industry Board and Stainless Steel Pipe Manufacturers Association in honour of corporate class candidate Rameez Dewan.

The event was attended by hundreds of traders, industrialists, voters and supporters, who expressed confidence in the leadership and candidates of the PIAF alliance for the upcoming Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) elections.

Speakers at the gathering highlighted issues faced by the business community and said they had consistently raised their voice for the legitimate concerns of traders and industrialists.

North Lahore Trade and Industry Board leader Rana Shaban Akhtar said the business community had always taken a stand against issues affecting traders and industrialists.

Referring to the recent incident involving the Assistant Commissioner Wahga Town, Akhtar said the business community had approached relevant forums and raised its concerns. He added that traders and industrialists wanted constructive engagement with government institutions but would not remain silent when they believed businesses were facing difficulties.

He said action was taken after protests and representations regarding the matter. He added that development work in Darogha Wala Industrial Area, including establishment of a LESCO office, construction of streets, improvement of sewerage facilities, provision of drinking water and cleanliness initiatives, had also been pursued.

PIAF Patron-in-Chief Mian Anjum Nisar, while addressing the gathering, appreciated the efforts of Rana Shaban Akhtar, Rameez Dewan and their team, saying they had built their position through continuous efforts and dedication.

Nisar said the leadership of Lahore Chamber had worked for resolving traders’ issues and described it as a reflection of their service-oriented approach. He said the group had raised business community concerns before government representatives and its current focus was on efforts to reduce electricity tariffs for businesses.

Speaking on the occasion, Fahim ur Rehman Sehgal said he had remained engaged with voters throughout the year and worked for the business community. He said he would continue efforts to resolve pending issues before September 30.

During the event, Mian Muhammad Ali launched a special anthem prepared in connection with the group and Mian Anjum Nisar, which received appreciation from participants.

Other speakers, including Khalid Usman, Malik Usman, Khurram Lodhi, Khalid Naik and Rameez Dewan, also addressed the gathering and appealed to participants to support the candidates in the upcoming elections.

Dewan Akram and Badr Zahoor Chishti performed the duties of stage secretaries during the ceremony.

The event was organised by Darogha Wala Industrial Owners Association (Registered), North Lahore Trade Board and allied business organisations to mobilise support among traders and industrialists ahead of the LCCI election schedule.
