LAHORE – Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to creating employment and business opportunities for young people, describing the younger generation as a key driver of Pakistan’s future economic development.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the Healthtrix American Centre of Excellence in Lahore, Naqvi said providing opportunities to young professionals and supporting emerging businesses remained among the government’s foremost priorities.
He emphasised that Pakistan’s future progress would depend largely on the participation, skills and contributions of its young population, adding that the government needed to create an environment in which talented individuals could pursue professional careers and establish successful businesses.
The interior minister described his participation in the opening ceremony as an honour and appreciated efforts aimed at creating professional opportunities and strengthening Pakistan’s business environment.
Government support for information technology sector
Naqvi highlighted the importance of Pakistan’s information technology industry, saying the government had extended substantial support to the sector to encourage business growth and improve opportunities for young professionals.
He said facilitating businesses, reducing obstacles for entrepreneurs and providing a supportive environment for investment were important responsibilities of the government.
According to the minister, Pakistan’s IT exports had also increased, reflecting the sector’s growing contribution to the country’s economic activities.
He stressed that information technology offered significant opportunities for younger generations, particularly those equipped with modern technical knowledge, professional expertise and the ability to work in international markets.
The minister said the government wanted to encourage more young people to enter the technology sector and benefit from emerging employment opportunities.
He also emphasised the importance of creating an environment where local companies could expand their operations, develop professional capabilities and compete with international businesses.
Naqvi recalls experience working for American company
During his address, Naqvi shared his personal experience of previously working for an American company, saying he understood the professional challenges associated with employment in the sector.
He particularly referred to the difficulties of working night shifts and remaining awake during late hours to meet professional responsibilities.
The minister said his experience had helped him understand the demands placed on employees working in international business environments, where professional commitments often extend beyond conventional working hours.
His remarks highlighted the importance of recognising the efforts of young professionals who work in demanding conditions to build their careers and support their families.
He acknowledged that creating employment opportunities was important, but ensuring that young people could develop professionally and work in supportive environments was equally significant.
Public office brings responsibility and accountability
Naqvi also spoke about the responsibilities associated with holding public office, saying government positions carried serious obligations because official decisions could directly affect the lives and livelihoods of thousands of people.
He stressed that public representatives and officials must understand the consequences of their decisions and work towards facilitating citizens and businesses.
The minister said creating opportunities for entrepreneurs and removing unnecessary difficulties for businesses should remain important government priorities.
He added that an improved business environment could encourage investment, generate employment and contribute to economic development.
According to Naqvi, the government’s role should extend beyond policy announcements and include practical measures that enable businesses to operate, expand and create opportunities for the country’s workforce.
Call for local investment and entrepreneurship
The interior minister urged Pakistani entrepreneurs and established business leaders to follow the example of international investors by investing in their own country and establishing new business ventures.
He expressed hope that greater participation from the private sector would help accelerate economic activity and create additional employment opportunities for young people.
Naqvi said investment in new businesses could contribute to the development of different economic sectors while providing young professionals with opportunities to demonstrate their abilities.
He emphasised that local investors had an important role in supporting Pakistan’s economic future and encouraging innovation.
The minister’s appeal particularly focused on business leaders who possess the financial resources and experience needed to establish new ventures, expand existing operations and support emerging entrepreneurs.
Youth development remains a government priority
Concluding his address, Naqvi reiterated that the younger generation remained the government’s greatest priority, adding that Pakistan could make meaningful progress by providing young people with opportunities to succeed.
He said the country needed talented professionals, innovative entrepreneurs and skilled workers who could contribute to economic growth and strengthen Pakistan’s position in international markets.
The inauguration of the Healthtrix American Centre of Excellence also highlighted the importance of private-sector initiatives in creating professional opportunities and supporting business development.
Naqvi expressed hope that initiatives promoting professional growth, technological development and investment would encourage greater participation from young Pakistanis.
He maintained that providing opportunities to the country’s youth was not only a government responsibility but also an important undertaking for the business community and private investors.
