Seizes foreign currency worth over Rs5.45 million
MULTAN – In a successful operation, the Pakistan Customs team at Multan International Airport thwarted a currency smuggling attempt and arrested a passenger attempting to transport a significant amount of foreign currency to Dubai.
According to Customs officials, the arrested individual, identified as Muhammad Yar, son of Ahmed Bakhash, a resident of Basti Rangpur Kherra, Muzaffargarh, was caught red-handed while trying to smuggle foreign currency out of the country.
During the operation, the Customs team recovered 18,000 Saudi Riyals, 2,915 UAE Dirhams, 2,538 Omani Riyals, and 2,840 Pakistani Rupees, amounting to a total value of approximately Rs 5.45 million.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Collector Airports Punjab, Tayyeba Kiani, with Deputy Collector Ahmed Zaheer leading the team. The officials were lauded for their vigilance and swift action in preventing the illegal transportation of currency.

The accused has been taken into custody, and further investigations are underway under the Customs Act, 1969 to determine the network behind the smuggling attempt.
