“There is no place for black sheep in the police,” DIG Operations Faisal Kamran

LAHORE: Lahore Police has set a new precedent for departmental accountability. For the first time, cases have been registered against two SHOs in their own police stations after they were found guilty of corruption and abuse of power.

According to details, DIG Operations Faisal Kamran had ordered an inquiry following complaints against former SHO Defense A, Muhammad Sajjad, and former SHO Faisal Town, Sub-Inspector Salman Akbar. The inquiry, conducted by SSP Operations Tasawwur Iqbal, found both SHOs guilty. Former SHO Mian Sajjad was proven to have taken a bribe of 1.7 million rupees from drug-related suspects and released them. A case has been registered against him under Section 155-C on behalf of the police. Similarly, a case under Section 155-C has also been registered against former SHO Faisal Town, Sub-Inspector Salman Akbar, and his subordinate Constable Maqbool Shakir. One former SHO has been arrested, while raids are being conducted to apprehend the other. On this occasion, DIG Operations Faisal Kamran stated that no one, including police officers, is above the law. He emphasized that there is no place for corrupt officers in the police and reiterated a zero-tolerance policy against corruption. He further stated that those who abuse their authority will not be forgiven.
