[:en]KARACHI/ISLAMABAD/LAHORE: Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has highlighted the global environmental crisis, emphasizing that environmental protection and combating climate change are among the most significant challenges we face today.

In a press release from Media Cell Bilawal House, Chairman PPP underlined the severe impact of environmental imbalances on Pakistan, marking #WorldEnvironmentDay. He noted that Pakistan ranks among the top countries suffering from the adverse effects of climate change, including floods, droughts, and extreme weather conditions.

He mentioned that during his tenure as Foreign Minister, he presented Pakistan’s environmental case to the international community, stressing that Pakistan is doubly afflicted by climate change and climate injustice. He pointed out that Pakistan continually faces the repercussions of climate change, including floods, droughts, and extreme weather conditions.

Chairman PPP reiterated that combating climate impact and protecting the environment are top priorities for his party, the PPP. He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to constructing homes for the victims of the devastating 2022 floods and supporting their livelihoods. The Sindh government’s initiative to build climate-resilient homes for two million flood victims stands as a model for the world, he said.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari asserted that development at the cost of environmental degradation is not true development. He said that environmental protection is a collective responsibility that spans countries, political parties, institutions, and individuals. “Let us all join hands to save this planet, which is the only home for us and future generations,” he urged.

Meanwhile, Bhutto has unveiled a priority roadmap for his party’s provincial government in Sindh.

Outlining the key objectives for the Sindh government’s current five-year term, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari emphasized the following priorities: the implementation of solar energy initiatives, the welfare of laborers, improvements in education, the promotion of public-private partnerships in the mines and minerals sector, the provision of modern and affordable transport facilities, enhancing law and order, the rehabilitation of flood victims, and the immediate allocation of residential plot ownership rights to women from flood-affected families.

The PPP chairman urged provincial ministers and legislators to maintain constant engagement with the public, empathize with their struggles, and amplify their voices.

Addressing the current political situation, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari expressed that the public is weary of the ongoing politics of hatred and division in Islamabad, noting widespread national disillusionment with such divisive tactics.

According to a press release issued by Media Cell Bilawal House, Chairman PPP, speaking at a meeting of the Provincial Parliamentary Party of his pary at the Chief Minister’s House,
he called on provincial ministers and legislators to fully commit to solving the province’s issues and accelerating development efforts. He underscored the historic victory achieved by the PPP and emphasized the need to work tirelessly to meet the expectations of the people. He urged that MPAs should ensure their attendance in the House and maintain constant contact with the people of their constituencies. “I don’t believe that development schemes or big projects alone win you support,” he contended and continued: “MPAs should stand with the people of their constituencies in their times of need and become their voice.”

Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said, “I want my MPAs to stop the politics of transfer-postings.” He said that to improve government performance, appointments and transfers of officers should be based on merit. Ministers and legislators should monitor the performance of officers. “If we want better government service delivery, we must give opportunities to capable officers.”

Chairman PPP noted that infighting within the party adversely affectes the government’s performance. “I don’t want the delivery of services by the party and its government to suffer. I have always encouraged teamwork,” he said. “We are in politics solely to serve the poor people of the country. I have shared the five-year plan with the Chief Minister of Sindh, and its implementation is my top priority.” He said that the aim is to provide free electricity through solar power to the poor people of the province and to develop green solar parks under public-private partnerships mode. Discussing the education sector, he mentioned that 50 percent of schools in Sindh were damaged by floods. The provincial government has allocated funds for their reconstruction, and it is hoped that the federal government will also fulfill its promise in this regard.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari emphasized the need to prioritize addressing the problems faced by our people. “Why should we concern ourselves with what Imran Khan is doing?” he questioned. “He has his own legal matters to address.” He highlighted that people are growing increasingly disillusioned with the politics of hatred and division prevailing in Islamabad.

Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari extended his appreciation to PPP Women Wing Central President and MPA Faryal Talpur for her consistent engagement with party workers across Sindh.[:]
