(Tech Desk) – Apple’s long-rumoured foldable iPhone could become the most expensive smartphone in the company’s history, with a new industry estimate suggesting an average selling price of around $2,500. Higher-storage variants could cost as much as $3,000, positioning the device above every existing iPhone model in Apple’s lineup.
While the pricing remains unofficial, the latest estimates indicate Apple is preparing to enter the premium foldable smartphone market with a device focused on advanced design, flagship hardware, and productivity features. The company has not confirmed the product, its name, or launch timeline.
According to reports, Apple’s first foldable iPhone will adopt a book-style design that unfolds into a larger tablet-like display. The device is expected to feature a 5.5-inch outer OLED display for everyday use and a 7.8-inch inner OLED display with a 4:3 aspect ratio, offering more screen space for multitasking, entertainment, and productivity.
Apple is reportedly working to minimise the visible crease on the folding display while improving durability through a liquid-metal hinge. The smartphone is expected to measure around 4.5mm when unfolded and approximately 9mm to 9.5mm when folded, making it one of the thinnest foldable devices in its class.
The foldable iPhone is also expected to feature a premium frame made from a combination of titanium and aluminium to balance strength and weight. Under the hood, the device could be powered by Apple’s next-generation A20 chip, reportedly manufactured using a 2nm process, paired with 12GB of RAM for flagship-level performance. It is also expected to include Apple’s C2 5G modem with support for mmWave connectivity.
