LAHORE: Police have recovered one-and-a-half-year-old Irfan, who was allegedly kidnapped from the Mazang area of Lahore, from Sargodha and arrested the suspected kidnapper.
The recovery was made following the intervention of DIG Investigation Lahore Syed Zeeshan Raza, who took notice of the kidnapping of the child.
According to police, a team led by SP Civil Lines Ghulam Dastgir Khan and Investigation In-charge Mazang Muhammad Asif traced the child and recovered him from Sargodha.
SP CRO Zahid Hussain handed the recovered child over to his mother. The family thanked the police and presented flowers to the officer in appreciation of the successful recovery.
The child’s mother had registered a kidnapping case at the concerned police station, following which investigators launched an operation to trace the missing toddler.
According to the investigation officer, the suspect had allegedly kidnapped the child and taken him to Sargodha.
Police said modern technology, along with human intelligence, was used to trace and arrest the suspect.
DIG Investigation Syed Zeeshan Raza said the suspect was now in police custody and directed investigators to prepare a strong challan so that the accused could face punishment according to law.
He said elements involved in kidnapping children would not be shown any leniency.
SP CRO Zahid Hussain also distributed certificates of appreciation among members of the Mazang police investigation team for their role in recovering the child.
