BAGH – Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has accused the authorities of holding Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) elections in phases to facilitate rigging, while rejecting Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) claims that it is heading towards forming the next government in Muzaffarabad.
Addressing a public gathering in Bagh, Bilawal questioned the transparency of the AJK electoral process and asked at which stage the elections had been conducted in a free, fair and peaceful manner.
He alleged that the decision to conduct the AJK elections in phases was aimed at manipulating the electoral process. He said the public was questioning the transparency of the elections, but the government had no satisfactory response.
Bilawal also hit out at the PML-N, saying the party should not assume that it would form the government in AJK. Referring to the party’s electoral symbol, he said the “lion” was hungry only for power and authority.
The PPP chairman claimed that half of the electoral process was still remaining and said the PML-N would soon realise the actual political situation. He also dismissed claims that the party was certain to establish its government in Muzaffarabad.
Bilawal predicts political trouble for Islamabad government
Bilawal further claimed that the government in Islamabad was also facing serious political challenges and that its “countdown” had begun.
He said he was not making the claim alone, arguing that “big people” were also saying that the existing political system had collapsed.
Blaming the PML-N for the prevailing political crisis, Bilawal said the PPP had no role in creating the situation. He maintained that his party’s political struggle was focused on elections, while the PML-N was engaged in an internal power struggle.
He alleged that a particular faction within the PML-N was attempting to frustrate the prime minister’s efforts, making governance increasingly difficult.
Bilawal said the political situation would become clearer in the coming days and stressed that the people’s electoral decision would have to be respected.
The PPP chairman’s remarks add to the political tensions surrounding the AJK elections, with rival parties trading allegations over electoral transparency and competing claims about who will form the next government in Muzaffarabad.
