Iran claimed missile strikes on Jordan's Al Azraq Air Base after US operations, warning further retaliation as regional tensions and security concerns intensified across the Middle East.

TEHRAN (Web Desk) – Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed it launched a series of ballistic missiles targeting Jordan’s Al Azraq Air Base in retaliation for what it described as a US attack on Qeshm Island, marking another sharp escalation in the rapidly expanding regional confrontation.

In a statement released on Thursday, the IRGC said the missile operation was carried out against what it described as a military facility used by US forces. Iranian officials claimed the strike caused significant damage to military assets at the base and resulted in casualties among personnel stationed there.

The IRGC alleged that three US F-35 fighter jets were severely damaged during the attack. It also claimed that several officers and military personnel were killed or injured. However, the statement did not provide evidence to support the claims.

There was no immediate confirmation from the United States or Jordan regarding the reported damage or casualties. Independent verification of the Iranian claims was not immediately available.

Iran described the missile strike as part of what it called a broader campaign aimed at responding to military actions carried out by the United States in the region. The IRGC declared that its operations would continue until all US forces withdrew from the Middle East.

The statement accused Washington of increasing instability through military intervention and warned that continued operations against Iranian interests would provoke additional retaliatory action.

Iranian officials also repeated their warning regarding the Strait of Hormuz, saying the strategically important waterway would remain closed as long as the United States continued what Tehran described as hostile actions and interference with regional maritime activity.

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most critical shipping routes, carrying a significant share of global oil exports. Any disruption to navigation through the waterway has the potential to affect international energy markets and global trade.

The latest Iranian announcement followed reports that US-led military operations targeted Iranian-linked positions in Iraq. According to reports citing US officials, strikes were conducted against sites believed to host Iranian advisers and personnel supporting Iran-backed armed groups.

Those operations reportedly killed around 20 Iranian advisers, including members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and technical personnel. US officials reportedly said the strikes were intended to reduce the operational capability of armed groups responsible for launching missiles and drones against American interests.

Iran has strongly condemned those operations, describing them as violations of international law and asserting its right to respond under the principle of self-defense.

Security analysts warn that the exchange of military actions risks widening an already volatile regional conflict involving multiple countries and armed groups. Increasing hostilities have raised concerns about further attacks on military installations, commercial shipping routes and critical infrastructure.

Governments across the region have continued monitoring developments closely while strengthening security measures around military bases and strategic facilities. Diplomatic efforts aimed at preventing further escalation have so far shown little progress.

International observers have expressed concern that continued military exchanges could increase instability across the Middle East, disrupt international trade routes and complicate ongoing diplomatic initiatives.

Military experts note that claims made by parties involved in active conflicts are often difficult to independently verify until additional evidence becomes available from neutral sources or official investigations.

The situation remains highly fluid as governments continue assessing the consequences of the latest developments. Any confirmed attack involving regional military installations could further heighten tensions and increase the possibility of additional retaliatory operations in the coming days.

Authorities in several countries are closely monitoring the evolving security situation while urging restraint to prevent the conflict from expanding further across the region.
