LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Minorities Affairs, Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora, held a courtesy meeting with Mr. Zoltan Varga-Haszonits, Ambassador of Hungary, at the Department of Human Rights and Minorities Affairs while the Dora Gunsberger and Ghulam Dastaghir were also present on the occasion.

The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on strengthening bilateral relations between Punjab and Hungary in diverse fields, including promotion of interfaith harmony, cultural cooperation, education, tourism, and protection of minorities’ rights. Both sides underscored the importance of dialogue and collaboration in advancing mutual understanding between the peoples of Hungary and Pakistan.
Welcoming the Hungarian Ambassador, Minister Ramesh Singh Arora appreciated Hungary’s role in promoting international cooperation and shared Punjab Government’s vision, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, to protect minority rights and ensure inclusive development. He said that Punjab is committed to fostering a peaceful, inclusive, and tolerant society where every citizen, regardless of faith, enjoys equal rights and opportunities. International partnerships, like those with Hungary, help us to learn, share, and implement best practices in safeguarding human rights and promoting cultural harmony.
Ambassador Zoltan Varga highlighted Hungary’s keen interest in expanding people-to-people linkages, academic exchanges, and cultural diplomacy. He emphasized the potential for cooperation in promoting tourism and acknowledged Punjab’s efforts in strengthening interfaith dialogue and minority protection.
Both dignitaries agreed on the importance of continuing such engagements to deepen mutual cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to building stronger bridges between Hungary and Punjab.
