MULTAN: On the special directives of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Provincial Minister for Sports ,Labour and Human Resource Faisal Ayub Khokhar visited Multan to review the arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram. During the visit, he chaired a high-level meeting at the Commissioner’s Office where he was briefed by the administration on the security and facilitation measures in place.

The meeting was attended by Commissioner Amir Kareem Khan, RPO Captain (R) Sohail Chaudhry, Deputy Commissioner Waseem Hamid Sindhu, CPO Sadiq Ali Dogar, and Members of the Provincial Assembly including Salman Naeem, Wasif Mazhar Raan, Malik Laal Muhammad Joiya, and Kamran Abdullah Maral, along with deputy commissioners and DPOs from across the division.
The meeting covered detailed discussions on security arrangements, cleanliness, shading, drainage, mobile washrooms, clinics-on-wheels, and water stalls along the routes of Muharram processions and majalis. The provincial minister directed that all procession routes be thoroughly inspected, screened, and geo-tagged, with round-the-clock monitoring from the central control room.
Commissioner Amir Kareem Khan briefed that a total of 3,182 majalis and 909 processions will be held across the division, with deployment of more than 7,000 police personnel and over 3,000 volunteers. Orders have been issued for the district restrictions of 63 clerics and speech bans on 83 others to ensure peace. Over 180 surveillance cameras have been installed for live monitoring of all major routes and events. The provincial minister visited the central control room established at the DC Multan office and reviewed the live surveillance of processions via installed cameras.
Faisal Ayub Khokhar also visited the Shah Shams Imambargah, inspecting security measures on-site and meeting license holders and organizers to hear their concerns. He stated that the Punjab government, under a spirit of service, is committed to providing all possible facilities to mourners, and the administration is actively reaching out to them at their doorstep. He emphasized the need for preparedness, particularly in the event of rain, and instructed that drainage systems and emergency machinery remain on standby.
RPO Captain (R) Sohail Chaudhry informed that strict action is being taken against any religiously inflammatory content spread on social media during Muharram. Provincial Minister Khokhar reiterated that the Chief Minister has delegated full authority to district administrations to maintain peace and order during this sensitive period.
