LAHORE: Lahore Police have devised a comprehensive security plan to ensure peace and safety during the holy month of Muharram-ul-Haram.

According to the spokesman for Lahore Police, over 3,868 Majalis and more than 458 mourning processions have been scheduled to take place during the first ten days of Muharram.
The spokesman detailed that 457 Majalis have been categorized as Category A, 2,610 as Category B and 801 as Category C based on their security needs. Additionally, 17 Category A, 74 Category B and 3 Category C processions will be held, he said.
Meanwhile, Capital City Police Officer Bilal Siddique Kamyana stated that foolproof security will be provided to all gatherings and processions. He reiterated strict adherence to government-issued Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including compliance with the Loudspeaker Act, designated timings and approved routes for processions and Majalis.
Advanced security measures such as CCTV cameras, walk-through gates and metal detectors have been deployed to enhance surveillance and safety. Various police units including the Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit, Anti-Riot Force and Traffic Police will be assigned special Muharram duties, he added.
Special arrangements have also been made for the security and screening of female participants with lady police deployed for this purpose. Continuous 24-hour monitoring of procession routes will be conducted through surveillance cameras, he said.
The CCPO further directed the police to maintain constant coordination with religious scholars and organizers. He also instructed for parking arrangements and smooth traffic flow during Muharrram-ul-Haram activitie, reaffirming that maintaining law and order remains a priority of Lahore Police.
