Punjab Minister for Sports Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar awards cash prize cheques to the winning and runner-up kabaddi and hockey teams

LAHORE: Faisalabad division kabaddi team trounced Lahore team by a margin of 52-41 points after a nerve-wrecking title clash of Chief Minister Punjab Summer Games Inter-Division kabaddi event at Punjab Stadium on Wednesday. Faisalabad division kabaddi team were leading by 24-22 points at the half time.

Earlier, Multan division boys’ hockey team shocked Lahore team by a narrow margin of 2-1 goals in the final match. Multan’s Majid and Khubaib netted one goal each while Lahore’s only goal was made by Samiullah.
The title of women’s hockey event was won by Lahore division girls who stunned strong Faisalabad division hockey team by 8-2 goals margin. Sharqa struck two goals, while Laiba Yasmeen and Asma netted two and one goals respectively. Sehrish scored two goals for Faisalabad.
Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar awarded cash prize cheques to the winning and runner-up kabaddi and hockey (male and female) teams at a colourful closing ceremony at Punjab Stadium.
Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Muzaffar Khan Sial, Director General Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Khizar Afzaal Chaudhry, Director Admin Dr M Kaleem, Director Sports Rana Nadeem Anjum, District Sports Officer Lahore Tanveer Abbas Shah and several notable sports figures were also present on this occasion.
The Inter-Division kabaddi title winning team Faisalabad was awarded a cash prize of Rs 14 lakh while the runners up side Lahore got a cash prize of Rs 980,000. Similarly, in hockey event, the title winning girls’ and boys’ teams pocketed a cash prize of Rs 9 lakh each whereas the runner up teams were given a cash prize of Rs 540,000 each.
It may be noted here that the Chief Minister Punjab Summer Games Inter-Division kabaddi, hockey, badminton and volleyball competitions were organised under the banner of Punjab Sports Department from June 12 to 18.
In CM Summer Games Inter-Division kabaddi event, Fakhar Randhawa and Ibrar Bara were the top performing players for title winners Faisalabad division team. For Lahore team, Abdullah and Kamala exhibited fighting game but unfortunately they could not change the fate of title clash.
Addressing the closing ceremony, Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar congratulated the successful teams for winning coveted titles of kabaddi and hockey events. He said that Punjab Sports Department will continue to hold such events for the development of sports culture across the province.
Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar said that Punjab Sports Department organized Chief Minister Punjab Summer Games competitions quite successfully despites harsh climate. “All male and female athletes are our heroes. These sports events are being organized as per vision of Punjab Chief Minister”.
Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar said in Chief Minister Punjab Summer Games competitions have helped a lot in tracing highly talented athletes from across the province. “We are quite hopeful that these players will win gold medals for Pakistan in future”.
Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar announced that the next edition of Pink Games will be two time bigger than previous event. He paid tribute to the Sports Department on making ideal arrangements for CM Summer Games.
