Over 35,000 missing children reunited: PSCA Report

LAHORE: The Virtual Center for Child Safety, established for the protection of children, has released its first annual performance report. Under this initiative by the Punjab Safe Cities Authority more than 35,000 missing children were safely reunited with their families during the past year. The dedicated child-related center Mera Pyara received more than 73,000 cases in one year, out of which 13,356 complaints resulted in FIRs, ensuring the provision of justice. Over 65,000 cases were resolved through an advanced Artificial Intelligence system.
Furthermore, in cases of child abuse, 1,825 accused individuals were arrested and over 3,000 FIRs were registered. To enhance child protection and timely recovery, the Meri Pehchan service and Facial Recognition System were launched, aiding in the identification and recovery of children through modern technology. The data of over 1,400 abandoned children in welfare institutions was also added to the Mera Pyara system.
According to the spokesperson of the Punjab Safe Cities Authority, welfare institution data across Pakistan is being connected to the central Mera Pyara database. Awareness campaigns against child disappearance, violence, and exploitation continued through Safe City’s social media platforms. Citizens can report any missing or abandoned child by calling 15 and pressing 3 to reach the Virtual Center for Child Safety.
