LAHORE: The University of Management and Technology (UMT) organized a special seminar to express solidarity with minorities and the Pakistan Army. The event was part of the Punjab Government’s “Minorities Week” celebrations and was graced by the Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs, Ramesh Singh Arora, as the chief guest.

The ceremony was attended by UMT President Ibrahim Hasan Murad, UMT Rector Dr. Asif Raza, Secretary for Human Rights Fareed Ahmed Tarar, faculty members, students, minority community representatives and government officials.
On this occasion, participants, along with UMT students and staff, took part in a solidarity walk holding banners inscribed with slogans such as “Long Live Pakistan”, “Long Live Pakistan Army”. The air resonated with chants in favor of Pakistan and its armed forces.
Addressing the gathering, Secretary for Human Rights Fareed Ahmed Tarar highlighted the importance of education, leadership, and skill development. He emphasized the need to empower minority youth through education and employment opportunities, noting that education is the key to national progress.
Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs Ramesh Singh Arora stated that the purpose of Minorities Week is to promote interfaith harmony and tolerance. He shared that 15 minority students have been sent to the Civil Services Academy and will soon appear in high-level examinations. He also thanked UMT President Ibrahim Hasan Murad for providing scholarships to minority students.
UMT President Ibrahim Hasan Murad reaffirmed the university’s commitment to providing equal opportunities for education and success to all students. He said that public policy reforms can empower minority communities and that intercultural leadership helps bridge social divides.
UMT Rector Dr. Asif Raza added that UMT provides billions of rupees in scholarships annually to ensure that no talented student is deprived of education due to financial constraints.
A special panel discussion on empowering minority youth was also held, featuring Dr. Ayra Patras, Dr. Mimpal Singh and Dr. Sami Ullah.
The event concluded with UMT Rector Dr. Asif Raza presenting souvenirs to Provincial Minister Ramesh Singh Arora and other distinguished guests.
