KARACHI (Web Desk) – Two police personnel were injured after unidentified assailants targeted a police mobile with a cracker in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal area on Tuesday, prompting security agencies to launch a search operation and investigation into the attack.

The incident occurred in the Gulshan-e-Iqbal locality when unknown suspects allegedly threw a cracker at a police vehicle that was on routine patrol. The explosion caused injuries to two police officers traveling in the mobile, creating panic among residents and passersby in the busy neighborhood.

Rescue officials responded immediately after receiving reports of the blast. Ambulances reached the scene within minutes and shifted the injured officers to a nearby hospital, where doctors provided emergency medical treatment. Hospital authorities later confirmed that both officers were in stable condition and their injuries were not life-threatening.

Police officials quickly cordoned off the area following the attack to preserve evidence and ensure public safety. Bomb disposal personnel and forensic experts also visited the scene to collect fragments of the explosive device and determine the exact nature of the cracker used in the incident.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) East confirmed that unidentified individuals had targeted the police mobile with a cracker before fleeing the scene. He said investigators were examining all available evidence to establish whether the attack was intended to intimidate law enforcement personnel or linked to another motive.

According to police, security teams have begun reviewing footage from nearby surveillance cameras installed at commercial buildings and roads leading to the area. Officials believe the CCTV recordings could help identify the suspects and trace the route they used to escape.

Witnesses told investigators they heard a loud explosion followed by confusion as nearby shopkeepers and pedestrians rushed to safety. Some residents reported seeing two suspicious individuals leaving the area immediately after the blast, though police have not officially confirmed those accounts.

Authorities have increased security patrols in Gulshan-e-Iqbal and surrounding neighborhoods as a precautionary measure. Additional police personnel have been deployed at important intersections and sensitive locations to prevent any further untoward incidents.

Investigators are also questioning local residents and business owners to gather information that could assist in identifying those behind the attack. Police officials said every possible angle is being examined and no possibility has been ruled out during the investigation.

Senior officers visited the injured policemen at the hospital and appreciated their courage while performing official duties. They assured the officers that all available resources would be utilized to bring those responsible to justice.

Sindh Police reiterated that attacks on law enforcement personnel would not weaken their resolve to maintain peace and protect citizens. Officials said security forces remain committed to continuing operations against criminal elements and ensuring law and order across Karachi.

Law enforcement agencies have appealed to citizens to cooperate with investigators by reporting any suspicious activity or information related to the incident. Authorities emphasized that public cooperation remains essential in preventing such attacks and maintaining security.

Security analysts note that although cracker attacks are generally less destructive than bomb explosions, they can still pose serious risks to public safety and law enforcement personnel. Such incidents also create fear among residents and disrupt normal activities in busy urban areas.

Police officials said forensic examination of the recovered material would help determine the type of explosive used and whether it matches any previous incidents recorded in the city. The findings are expected to assist investigators in identifying possible links to criminal groups or repeat offenders.

The investigation remains ongoing, while police have assured the public that every effort is being made to arrest the attackers. Authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant and immediately inform law enforcement agencies about any suspicious persons or activities in their neighborhoods.
