NANKANA SAHIB: The third Baba Guru Nanak Hockey Tournament has started under the auspices of Baba Guru Nanak Hockey Academy Nankana Sahib in connection with celebration of the 555th birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak.
The final match of the tournament will be played on November 10, the winning team will be given a cash prize of five lakh rupees and the runner-up team will be given a cash prize of three lakh rupees.
Twelve well-known teams from across the country are participating in the hockey tournament held at the National Hockey Stadium, Shahkot. Four matches were played on the first day of the tournament.
The opening match was played between Zaheer Hockey Club Lahore and Bacha Khan Hockey Club Bannu. The Lahore team won by one four on plenty of shots۔ In the second match, Rachana Hockey Club Gujranwala defeated Punjab Police by four goals to three۔ In the third match between KK Hockey Club Faisalabad and Naeem Hockey Club Chiniot, the Faisalabad team won the one-sided match by zero to nine. In the fourth match, Kent Hockey Club Jhelum team defeated Paradise Hockey Club Faisalabad by zero three.A large number of fans watched these national sports events and thoroughly enjoyed the exciting events. The fans appreciated the efforts of Asad Javed, Syed Mujtaba Shah, Ali Raza and other organizers of Baba Guru Nanak Hockey Academy for organizing the best tournament.
