Sindh Labour Minister Saeed Ghani welcomed the KP CM at Karachi airport. A video released by Ghani’s office showed the two leaders greeting each other, after which Ghani presented Afridi with a Sindhi cap and Ajrak.
PTI workers and supporters also gathered at the airport to welcome the KP CM. Videos shared on social media showed large crowds chanting slogans in his support. Afridi’s convoy later moved through Sharea Faisal and reached the Karachi Press Club after a brief stop at Mazar-i-Quaid.
PTI leaders claimed that tents set up near the party’s Karachi office for the CM’s reception were removed by police, though the party office was not sealed. Police officials later assured PTI leaders that they would be allowed to hold gatherings as long as roads were not blocked.
Before leaving Islamabad, KP CM Afridi said his visit aimed to deliver a message from PTI founder Imran Khan and energise the party’s movement. He announced a public gathering at Mazar-i-Quaid on Sunday.
During his visit, Afridi is scheduled to meet political leaders, lawyers, business representatives and journalists. He is also expected to hold talks with Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. After Karachi, the KP CM will travel to Hyderabad, where PTI has planned rallies and meetings with various groups.
