ISLAMABAD, June 4, 2026 : A cybercrime case has been registered against Punjab Assembly member Saqib Chadhar following a complaint filed by actress Momina Iqbal, who alleged harassment, threats and blackmail.
The case was lodged by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency under the provisions of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act after the actress approached authorities seeking legal action.
According to the FIR, the complainant accused Saqib Chadhar and several associates of engaging in conduct intended to pressure and intimidate her. The report alleges that threats were made regarding the release of certain personal data if a marriage proposal was not accepted.
As the investigation moves forward, officials have begun reviewing digital evidence submitted in support of the complaint. Investigation records indicate that videos allegedly connected to the threats were handed over to the cybercrime agency by Momina Iqbal’s sister.
Authorities have taken possession of the videos and a mobile phone believed to be relevant to the case. Both items have been sent for forensic examination to verify their authenticity and determine their evidentiary value.
Investigators are also examining a series of messages referenced in the complaint. According to the FIR, the messages were allegedly sent from a phone number associated with the accused lawmaker.
The complaint was filed with the cybercrime agency several days before the formal registration of the case. Following a preliminary review of the allegations and supporting material, officials initiated legal proceedings and opened a formal inquiry.
Law enforcement authorities have not released any conclusions regarding the allegations and emphasise that the investigation remains ongoing. Officials are currently analysing the available digital evidence and collecting additional information before deciding on further action.
The case has generated significant public interest due to the involvement of a prominent actress and an elected political figure. Authorities say the inquiry will proceed according to legal procedures and the findings of the forensic examination.
