LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly passed a resolution of tribute to Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on his appointment as Chief of the Defence Forces through a majority vote of the government members during the 36th session of the House on Monday.
The session, chaired by Speaker Punjab Assembly Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan, began with a delay of two hours. The tribute resolution was presented by Malik Ahmed Saeed Khan. The text of the resolution stated that criticism of the armed forces and military leadership amounted to promoting the enemy’s narrative. Government members also announced that they would hold a press conference with the Director General ISPR.
Addressing the session, Provincial Information Minister Uzma Bukhari strongly criticized the opposition, accusing it of attempting to drag the armed forces into politics. She said that the opposition was crossing moral boundaries and raising questions about national institutions.
