KARACHI (Web Desk) – The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) staged a powerful rally on Monday, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index soaring 4,639 points amid reports of an Iran-US agreement that lifted investor sentiment and sparked broad-based buying.
The market opened on a strong note, with the KSE-100 Index climbing more than 4,500 points during intraday trading to touch 176,917 points. Positive momentum persisted throughout the session as easing geopolitical concerns and improving global sentiment encouraged investors to return to equities.
By the end of trading, the benchmark index had settled at 177,039 points, up 4,639 points from the previous close of 172,399 points. Analysts attributed the sharp rise to renewed investor confidence and favourable international developments.
Market participants linked the bullish trend to reports of an understanding between Iran and the United States, which raised hopes of reduced regional tensions, greater stability in energy markets and an improved economic outlook.
The optimism extended beyond Pakistan, with major Asian stock markets also posting notable gains. South Korea’s KOSPI Index advanced 5.27 percent, while Japan’s Nikkei Index climbed more than five percent.
Elsewhere in the region, Indonesia’s Jakarta Composite Index gained around two percent, China’s Shanghai Composite Index rose nearly one percent, and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index also ended higher.
Financial experts noted that easing geopolitical uncertainty often prompts investors to increase exposure to equities, particularly in emerging markets such as Pakistan. They added that expectations of a more stable global oil supply had further strengthened market sentiment.
However, analysts cautioned that volatility could persist depending on future developments related to the reported Iran-US agreement and broader economic indicators.
The latest rally marked one of the PSX’s strongest single-day performances in recent weeks, underscoring the impact of global geopolitical events on Pakistan’s financial markets.
