According to the spokesman of the Lahore Police, over 880,800 individuals were screened this month through “Travel Eye” software. Additionally, more than 22,000 individuals were verified via the “Hotel Eye” system, while the “Smart Eye” software was used to check the records of over 1,889 foreign nationals.

The operation also led to the arrest of 92 proclaimed offenders and 41 court absconders through Smart Eye., he said. During these checks, criminal records were traced against 239 individuals, and appropriate legal action was also taken, he added.

Capital City Police Officer Bilal Siddique Kamyana stated that actions against criminal elements were in full swing. He directed police officers to conduct daily search operations around mosques, Imam bargahs and Muharram procession routes. He also emphasized the regular inspection of security arrangements at all sensitive sites by supervisory officers to ensure the safety of the citizens.

The CCPO highlighted the critical role of information technology in identifying and apprehending criminals. He directed that travellers’ data must be mandatorily registered in the “Hotel Eye” and “Travel Eye” applications. He also warned of legal action against those failing to enter data into police software systems.

He further underscored the importance of leveraging the Punjab Safe Cities Authority’s network for surveillance and monitoring. He reiterated that the use of modern technology was essential to ensure the establishment of a safe society.
