LAHORE— Pakistan Customs, under the dynamic leadership of Collector Customs (Preventive) Lahore Ms. Tayyba Kayani, successfully foiled an attempt to smuggle security equipment and foreign garments at Allama Iqbal International Airport.
According to official sources, the operation was conducted late night on April 6 and into the early hours of April 7, when customs officials, acting on intelligence, intercepted incoming passengers suspected of carrying undeclared goods.

Inspector Amna, under the supervision of senior officers, directed thorough checking of the luggage. Customs Officer Onur discovered 24 security cameras and over 40 branded men’s garments, hidden among personal belongings.
The accused, identified as Humayun Raza (resident of Hafizabad), Khalid Ali (resident of Mand Aban), and a female accomplice named Mahnoor, reacted violently to the seizure. Reports state that Mahnoor assaulted Officer Onur by tearing her uniform and issuing death threats.
In the chaos, some unidentified accomplices managed to help one of the accused escape custody, damaging customs property in the process.
Superintendent Muhammad Imran Afridi of Pakistan Customs immediately filed a complaint with Sarwar Road Police Station, seeking strict action against those involved in threatening government officials, obstructing lawful duty, and damaging official property.
An FIR has been registered under sections 186, 427, and 353 of the Pakistan Penal Code. The matter has been referred to the Investigation Wing, and SHO Sarwar Road has initiated legal proceedings.
Collector Tayyba Kayani praised the swift action of her team and reiterated her commitment to curbing smuggling and ensuring law enforcement is upheld without fear or favor. She emphasized that all such attempts will be dealt with firmly to protect the country’s economic interests and maintain law and order at international gateways.
