LAHORE: Newly elected Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Corporate Class member Mardan Ali Zaidi has thanked businessmen, traders, industrialists and chamber members for supporting him and the Vision Alliance in the recently held elections.
Mardan Ali Zaidi, who secured a Corporate Class seat, said the election result represented the confidence of the business community and carried with it a significant responsibility to work for the interests of traders and industrialists.
In a statement issued after the election, he expressed gratitude to members of the business community who voted for him and supported the Vision Alliance during the electoral process.
He said the success of the Vision Alliance reflected the confidence placed by members of the LCCI in its vision and commitment to addressing issues faced by the business community.
“The victory is not mine alone. It belongs to every member of the business community who came forward, participated in the electoral process and expressed confidence in the Vision Alliance,” he said.
Mardan thanked businessmen and traders who took part in the campaign, shared their concerns and encouraged the candidates throughout the election process. He also acknowledged the contribution of colleagues, friends, supporters and well-wishers who worked for the alliance during the elections.
He said the responsibility following the election was greater than the celebration of the result, adding that the confidence of the business community would have to be reflected through practical work and representation.
According to him, the LCCI provides a collective platform for traders, manufacturers, exporters, importers, industrialists and entrepreneurs, and its effectiveness depends on the participation and cooperation of its members.
He said he would seek to represent the concerns of the wider business community and raise issues at relevant forums.
Mardan said the business community was facing several challenges, including taxation matters, rising operating costs, energy prices, regulatory hurdles, access to finance and difficulties related to international trade.
He said these issues required continued engagement between business representatives and government institutions, along with practical proposals aimed at improving the business environment.
The newly elected LCCI member also stressed the importance of maintaining communication between the Chamber leadership and its members.
He said he would listen to concerns from different sections of the business community and work to raise them through appropriate platforms.
“The confidence expressed by the business community must be converted into meaningful work, constructive representation and tangible efforts for the improvement of the business environment,” he said.
Mardan also congratulated the successful candidates and acknowledged the participation of all contestants in the electoral process.
He said differences in opinion among members were part of an electoral process and expressed hope that the newly elected representatives would work collectively for the business community.
The Vision Alliance secured a majority of seats in the LCCI Corporate Class elections, while Mardan Ali Zaidi was among those elected to the Corporate Class.
He said his focus after the election would remain on strengthening the voice of the business community and contributing to a better environment for trade, industry, investment and entrepreneurship.
He again thanked the businessmen, traders and LCCI members for their confidence and support, saying he viewed the opportunity to represent them as a responsibility rather than simply an electoral achievement.
