LAHORE: Punjab Assembly Public Accounts Committee Chairman Ali Haider Gilani has expressed his dismay over lingering on holding of local government elections.
The Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) has declared Punjab a province of mismanagement, he said adding that he would explain and encourage the PML-N on the issue of local government governments.

“The Punjab is behind and Sindh is ahead in strengthening local government institutions,” he underscored.
When it is written in the constitution that local governments are the third pillar of democracy, the governance of the province can be improved by holding local government elections, he reiterated.
Gilani advised the government that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz should empowered to local government representatives.
