ISLAMABAD: The government has issued a fresh notification revising operating hours for commercial areas, including shops, markets, shopping malls, restaurants, and other business outlets under a new regulatory schedule aimed at standardizing closing times nationwide.

According to the notification, all shops, markets, shopping malls, bazaars, departmental stores, and grocery shops will close by 9:00 pm. Wedding halls and marquees will be allowed to remain open until 10:00 pm, while restaurants, cafés, and vegetable shops can continue operations until 11:00 pm.
However, essential and selected services have been exempted from these restrictions. Medical stores, pharmacies, hospitals, clinics, and laboratories will remain open without any time limitations. Similarly, bakeries, tandoors, and milk and yogurt shops are also exempt.
The notification further states that petrol pumps, electric vehicle charging stations, gyms, IT companies, and call centers will also not be bound by the revised closing hours.
Officials say the move is part of broader energy conservation and administrative efficiency measures.
