CHANDIGARH (The Tribune International) Authorities in Chandigarh have sealed SAGO By Badshah, a nightclub linked to Indian singer and rapper Badshah, over alleged violations of building regulations and unauthorized structural modifications at its premises in Sector 26.

The enforcement action was carried out by the Chandigarh Administration’s Enforcement Wing following inspections that reportedly uncovered several deviations from the approved building plan. Officials said extensive unauthorized construction had been carried out on the ground and second floors of the establishment.

According to the administration, the violations included the construction of additional cabins and partitions, along with the development of toilets, kitchens and a cold-storage facility that were not part of the sanctioned layout. Inspectors also noted that open courtyard spaces had been covered using mild steel structures and fibre-sheet roofing, altering the original design of the property.

Authorities further highlighted the installation of tin sheds and the creation of extra storage spaces within the premises. Modifications to the building’s rear elevation were also cited among the reasons for the action, with officials maintaining that the changes did not comply with approved construction plans.

The sealing of the nightclub comes amid an intensified drive by local authorities to enforce building regulations in Chandigarh’s entertainment district. In recent weeks, multiple clubs and hospitality establishments operating in the Sector 26 area have reportedly faced similar action for alleged breaches of construction and zoning rules.

Officials indicated that the crackdown is part of a broader effort to ensure commercial properties adhere to approved plans and safety standards. Establishments found violating regulations may be required to remove unauthorized structures and obtain necessary approvals before being allowed to resume operations.

SAGO By Badshah, which has gained attention as a high-profile nightlife venue, now joins a growing list of establishments facing scrutiny from civic authorities over compliance issues. The administration has not yet announced when the venue may be permitted to reopen, with any future decision expected to depend on the resolution of the cited violations and fulfillment of regulatory requirements.

The latest action underscores the administration’s increasing focus on monitoring commercial properties and enforcing urban planning norms across the city’s entertainment and hospitality sectors.
