FPSC announces mandatory screening test schedule for CSS 2027

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – The Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) has officially announced the advance schedule for the Central Superior Services (CSS) Examination 2027, providing aspiring civil servants with a detailed timeline for registration, screening, and written examinations. The commission has urged candidates to carefully follow the announced schedule and complete all application requirements within the prescribed deadlines.

According to the FPSC, the CSS 2027 examination process will begin with a compulsory preliminary screening test, which has become an essential requirement for candidates seeking to appear in the written examination. The screening test, consisting of multiple-choice questions (MCQs), is intended to assess candidates’ general knowledge and aptitude before they proceed to the next stage of the competitive examination.

The commission stated that online registration for the screening test will open on August 3, 2026, and remain available until August 20, 2026. Candidates must submit their applications through the FPSC’s online portal during this period, as no applications will be accepted after the closing date.

The screening test is scheduled to be conducted simultaneously at examination centres across Pakistan on September 27, 2026. The commission said only those candidates who successfully qualify for the preliminary test will be eligible to submit applications for the CSS written examination.

Following the screening process, the FPSC will issue the official advertisement for the written examination on November 8, 2026. Qualified candidates will then be able to submit their online applications between November 10 and November 25, 2026.

In addition to online registration, applicants will be required to send hard copies of their application forms, along with educational certificates, domicile, photographs, and other required supporting documents, to the FPSC headquarters. These documents must reach the commission no later than December 4, 2026.

The commission has announced that the written CSS 2027 examination will commence on January 27, 2027. Candidates who successfully clear the written stage will proceed to subsequent phases of the recruitment process, including medical examination, psychological assessment, and viva voce before final allocation to various occupational groups.

The FPSC has advised candidates not to delay their applications until the final days of registration, warning that heavy traffic on the online portal near deadlines could create unnecessary difficulties. Applicants have been encouraged to complete the online submission process early and verify that all required information and documents have been uploaded correctly.

Officials have also asked candidates to regularly visit the FPSC’s official website for updates regarding the examination syllabus, rules, eligibility criteria, and any notifications related to the CSS examination process. The commission noted that any future amendments or important announcements will be communicated through official channels.

The CSS examination remains Pakistan’s premier competitive recruitment process for appointments to the country’s federal civil services. Every year, thousands of graduates from across the country compete for a limited number of positions in various occupational groups, including the Pakistan Administrative Service, Police Service of Pakistan, Foreign Service of Pakistan, Inland Revenue Service, Customs Service, Information Service, Postal Service, Railways, Commerce and Trade, and several other federal departments.

Education experts believe that the advance announcement of the examination schedule will allow candidates to better organize their preparation and complete administrative formalities without unnecessary pressure. Coaching academies and educational institutions have also welcomed the early release of the timetable, saying it provides students with sufficient time to prepare strategically for one of Pakistan’s most demanding competitive examinations.

With the registration process set to begin in August and the written examination scheduled for January 2027, candidates now have several months to finalize their preparation. The FPSC has reiterated its commitment to conducting a transparent, merit-based examination process and has encouraged applicants to rely only on official notifications for authentic information regarding CSS 2027.
