ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has imposed a minor penalty on a BS-20 officer of the Inland Revenue Service following the conclusion of disciplinary proceedings conducted under the Civil Servants (Efficiency and Discipline) Rules, 2020.

According to an official notification issued by the Revenue Division, disciplinary action was initiated against Muhammad Abid, currently posted as Chief (Admin Pool), FBR Headquarters, on charges of inefficiency. The inquiry process was carried out in accordance with due process, including appointment of an inquiry officer, issuance of a show-cause notice, submission of a written reply, and provision of a personal hearing.
After examining the inquiry report and the record, the competent authority imposed the penalty of withholding one annual increment for a period of two years. The notification further stated that the officer’s performance allowance will remain suspended for six months in line with applicable guidelines, with restoration subject to fresh evaluation.
The officer has been granted the right to file an appeal before the relevant appellate authority within the prescribed time under the Civil Servants (Appeals) Rules, 1977. The notification is to be published in the Gazette of Pakistan.
