KASUR ( Web Desk) – The Punjab Human Organ Transplantation Authority (PHOTA) and Punjab Police have arrested four suspects, including a doctor, for allegedly carrying out an illegal kidney transplant on a young girl at a private hospital in Kasur.

According to officials, Dr Muhammad Rashid Khan, identified as the alleged mastermind of the operation, was arrested from a private housing society in Lahore. Three other suspects — Naveed, Syed Ammar and Shahbaz — were also taken into custody during the joint operation.

The raid was conducted by PHOTA’s vigilance team, led by Deputy Director Vigilance Adnan Ahmed Bhatti, along with Punjab Police personnel.

Investigators said the suspects, with the help of other doctors and agents, allegedly performed an unauthorized kidney transplant on a girl identified as Sakina. The transplant reportedly failed, and a procedure was later being carried out at a private hospital in Kasur to remove the transplanted organ when authorities intervened.

During the operation, authorities sealed Allama Iqbal Hospital Kasur and launched a wider crackdown on individuals linked to the alleged illegal organ transplant network.

Officials said raids are underway at several locations to apprehend other doctors, agents and facilitators suspected of involvement in the case.

On the directives of the PHOTA director general, the affected patient, Sakina Bibi, was shifted to Services Hospital Lahore for specialized medical treatment and is currently receiving care.

Authorities said investigations are continuing to determine the full extent of the network and identify all those involved.
