LAHORE POLICE INTENSIFIES CRACKDOWN ON GAMBLING DENS AND ONLINE GAMBLING NETWORKS

LAHORE: A promotion badge-pinning ceremony was held at the Capital City Police Headquarters to mark the elevation of Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs) to the rank of Sub-Inspector. DIG (Admin) Imran Kishwar placed the promotion ranks on Syed Basharat Hussain during the event.

As many as 54 ASIs from various units of Lahore Police, including Operations, Investigation, and Security Divisions, have been promoted. Prominent names among the promoted staff include Muhammad Tanveer, Javed Akhtar, Jafar Hussain, Dilshad Hussain Shah and Boota Anjum. Others promoted include Muhammad Tariq, Fida Muhammad, Sarfraz Ahmed, Tariq Aziz and Zulfiqar Ali.
CCPO Bilal Siddique Kamyana extended congratulations to the promoted staff and expressed his best wishes for their continued success.
DIG Imran Kishwar stated that the promotion process for police was being expedited and urged the newly promoted SIs to uphold professionalism and deliver exemplary performance. He added that hardworking, competent and experienced policemen were a valuable asset to the department.
Meanwhile, the Lahore Police remains actively engaged in a continued crackdown against gambling dens and elements involved in online gambling activities. According to the spokesman Lahore Police, 1,619 suspects have been arrested this year in connection with gambling-related offenses and 413 cases have been registered against them.
The spokesman added that more than Rs. 8.41 million in stag money has been recovered from the arrested individuals.
Meanwhile, the Capital City Police Officer Bilal Siddique Kamyana said that police operations were underway to dismantle both traditional gambling setups and online gambling networks. He directed the police to intensify the crackdown and to carry out intelligence-based raids against gambling dens.
The noose was being tightened around those involved in online gambling; he said and directed to utilize modern IT technology to counter these activities effectively.
Bilal Siddique Kamyana also called for legal action against social media accounts and mobile applications promoting online gambling, urging collaboration with the Public Prosecution Department to ensure that cases were pursued to their logical conclusion. These efforts, he noted, were crucial to eliminating this harmful social practice from society.
