CCPO chairs meeting on Basant security, orders rooftop bonds and strict enforcement

LAHORE:  Capital City Police Officer Bilal Siddique Kamyana presided over a high-level meeting to review arrangements for the peaceful observance of Basant. The meeting reviewed in detail various security, safety and regulatory measures to ensure the safe and orderly conduct of the festival.

Addressing the meeting, CCPO directed that surety bonds be obtained from owners of rooftops for Basant celebrations to ensure strict compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs). He categorically stated that no permission would be granted for the presence of people beyond the approved capacity on rooftops.

Bilal Kamyana further stressed that strict enforcement of the Punjab Regulation of Kite Flying Act, 2025, should be ensured to guarantee a safe and peaceful Basant. He made it clear that until the conclusion of Basant, no motorcycle would be allowed on the roads without a safety rod.

The CCPO also ordered the formation of special police teams to monitor Basant-related activities through human intelligence and modern technology. He warned that there would be zero tolerance for aerial firing and the display of weapons, adding that violations would invite indiscriminate legal action.

He further stated that hooliganism would not be tolerated under any circumstances, while violations of the Punjab Sound System Act, 2015, would be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law. Police officers were also directed to continue uninterrupted action against illegal kite flying and the use of metallic strings.

The CCPO emphasized that during cultural activities, due respect must be shown to religious, social and moral values.

Chief Traffic Officer Lahore Athar Waheed, DIG (Admin) Imran Kishwar, DIG (Investigation) Syed Zeeshan Raza, DIG (Operations) Faisal Kamran, SSP (Investigation) Muhammad Naveed, SSP Operations Tauqeer Naeem, SP (Security) Abdul Wahab, SP (Dolphin) Akhtar Nawaz and divisional SPs of Operations and Investigation attended the meeting, amongst other concerned.
