DHAKA (Web Desk) – A Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leader has sparked outrage after allegedly threatening to set fire to the homes of voters who do not support his party.

A video surfaced showing former BNP candidate Manzurul Ahsan Monshi from Comilla-4 warning people, “If BNP comes to power and you vote for another party, I will not spare anyone; I can burn your homes to ashes if needed.”
Following the controversy, the Election Inquiry and Judicial Committee summoned Monshi to appear and provide a written explanation regarding his threats.
The BNP, responding to the backlash, expelled Monshi from the party for statements violating party policy and discipline. He has been instructed to report personally to submit his written clarification.
Monshi, however, denied the allegations, claiming the remarks were made in personal frustration among close relatives within his own locality. He also said the final part of his speech was intentionally edited and circulated to create controversy, with a specific group trying to tarnish his image.
Previously, Monshi was the BNP candidate for Comilla-4 but was disqualified by the Appellate Division over legal complications related to loan defaults. The party subsequently fielded another candidate for the constituency.
