LONDON (The Tribune International) –Former world boxing champion Amir Khan and his wife, Faryal Makhdoom, are facing a potential High Court legal battle after launching a libel claim over allegations involving sex tapes, blackmail, and inappropriate conduct that surfaced during a podcast appearance in 2023.
The couple is reportedly seeking damages of up to £100,000 from solicitor Faryaal Hussain, who made a series of claims about Khan during a podcast discussion. Khan and Makhdoom strongly deny all allegations, describing them as false, malicious, and unsupported by evidence.
According to court documents recently filed at the High Court, Hussain has submitted a detailed 21-page defence outlining several allegations against the former boxer and his wife. The filing includes claims that Khan communicated with multiple women through social media and engaged in inappropriate exchanges.
One allegation states that Khan secretly recorded a woman during an intimate encounter. The defence further claims that the woman later received what was described as an aggressive phone call from Khan. During the call, he allegedly warned that public knowledge of the incident could damage his reputation and negatively affect his television programme, “Meet the Khans.”
The court papers also contain allegations involving Makhdoom, claiming that she made threats in relation to some of the incidents described in the defence.
Another claim detailed in the filing concerns a woman who allegedly began communicating with Khan in 2023. According to the defence, she was promised £20,000 and subsequently received frequent late-night messages from the former boxer. The messages allegedly contained sexual comments, compliments, and personal questions about her appearance and body.
Khan, a former unified light-welterweight world champion, has not admitted to any wrongdoing and continues to reject all allegations made against him. His legal team maintains that the statements published by Hussain are defamatory and have caused significant harm to his reputation.
The dispute is now moving through the legal system, and if the case proceeds to a full trial, both Khan and Makhdoom could be required to appear before the court and provide evidence under oath.
The legal proceedings are expected to draw significant public attention due to Khan’s high-profile status and the serious nature of the allegations and counterclaims being contested before the High Court.
