LAHORE: Lahore Police have intensified operations against individuals involved in the theft of sacrificial animals in connection with Eid-ul-Adha. Since May 1, the police have arrested 113 suspects linked to cattle theft activities and registered 79 cases, according to a statement released by the spokesman Lahore Police here today.

The crackdown has been citywide with arrests made across various divisions led to 20 from Iqbal Town, 28 from Sadar, 20 from Cantt, 23 from Model Town, 19 from City and 3 from Civil Lines Division, he said.
In a statement, Capital City Police Officer Bilal Siddique Kamyana added that a comprehensive security plan has been put in place to prevent the theft of sacrificial animals during the Eid season. robust security measures be ensured at all cattle markets set up across the provincial capital, he said.
The CCPO emphasized the deployment of additional police force at cattle markets to keep a close watch on fraudsters and ensure the safety of both traders and the buyers. He ordered the establishment of security checkpoints at key locations within the cattle markets, alongside proper parking arrangements and the smooth flow of traffic in surrounding areas.
To ensure round-the-clock vigilance, the CCPO instructed Dolphin Force, Police Response Unit (PRU) and other patrolling units to intensify their operations. He also directed supervisory officers to inspect the security arrangements at cattle markets within their respective divisions.
He also reiterated the police department’s focus on dismantling organized gangs involved in livestock theft and recovering stolen animals.
