LAHORE: A criminal gang involved in a series of robberies in Faisalabad has been apprehended with the help of Safe City surveillance cameras and facial recognition technology. According to details, multiple calls were received on Emergency Helpline 15 reporting repeated incidents of street crimes in which suspects snatched valuables from citizens and fled.

The robbers consistently used the same pattern for their crimes and changed their motorbikes after each incident to avoid detection. Acting on the information provided by callers, a Virtual Patrolling Officer initiated the tracking process. Using facial recognition technology, Safe City Faisalabad promptly identified one of the major suspects. Following the identification, the police acted immediately and arrested the suspects. Spokesperson for the Punjab Safe Cities Authority stated that the Safe City project is working round the clock to ensure the safety of citizens’ lives and property. Citizens are urged to dial 15 in case of any emergency or criminal activity.
