LAHORE (Showbiz Desk) – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s daughter, Mahnoor Safdar, is set to marry Azan Jabbar, son of industrialist Jabbar Khalid, on Saturday in an intimate family ceremony at Jati Umrah.

The nikkah is being held at the Sharif family’s estate on the outskirts of Lahore, with attendance reportedly restricted to members of the Sharif and Khalid families, close relatives and a small circle of friends.

The low-key ceremony marks a rare public moment involving Mahnoor, who has largely remained away from political activities and the media spotlight despite belonging to one of Pakistan’s most prominent political families.

Azan Jabbar belongs to a business family. His father, Jabbar Khalid, is associated with the flour-milling industry.

Nawaz Sharif returns for granddaughter’s wedding

Former prime minister and PML-N President Nawaz Sharif has also returned from Singapore ahead of his granddaughter’s wedding. According to a family source, he deferred scheduled travel to London so he could attend the ceremony.

The wedding follows Maryam Nawaz’s recent visit to London, where she attended Mahnoor’s graduation ceremony. The Punjab chief minister returned to Lahore on Wednesday.

No official details have so far been announced about a reception, baraat, valima or other wedding functions, indicating that the family is keeping arrangements surrounding Mahnoor’s marriage relatively private.

Mahnoor largely stays away from public life

Unlike several members of the Sharif family who are active in politics or frequently appear at public events, Mahnoor has maintained a comparatively private profile.

Her marriage nevertheless draws public interest because she is the daughter of Punjab’s chief minister and granddaughter of three-time former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

The comparatively intimate nature of the nikkah also contrasts with the wedding celebrations of Mahnoor’s brother, Junaid Safdar.

Junaid married Shanzeh Ali Rohale, granddaughter of former legislator Sheikh Rohale Asghar, in January. Their marriage was celebrated through several elaborate functions, including a mehndi, baraat and an outdoor valima at Jati Umrah.

Family occasion at Jati Umrah

Jati Umrah has long served as the Sharif family’s private residence as well as the setting for major family occasions. Saturday’s ceremony brings members of the family together there for another significant personal event.

For Maryam Nawaz, the occasion comes amid her responsibilities as Punjab chief minister, while Nawaz Sharif’s decision to adjust his travel plans underscores the private significance of his granddaughter’s wedding.

With the family yet to disclose plans for any further celebrations, the nikkah is expected to remain a largely private affair rather than a major political or public gathering.
