LAHORE: The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has decided to intensify enforcement actions against fraudulent practices in tax payments and tax defaulters. A review meeting on officers’ performance and ongoing reforms was held under the chairmanship of Chairman Punjab Revenue Authority Moazzam Iqbal Sipra.
The meeting conducted a detailed review of revenue collected from various sectors, tax targets, recovery and the overall performance of the Authority. The Chairman also sought a report on the effective implementation of e-invoicing, electronic monitoring and the digital tax system.
Chairman PRA said that digital monitoring and the use of modern technology were essential for achieving tax targets and improving revenue collection. He said that, on the directions of the Chief Minister Punjab, achieving revenue targets as well as maintaining taxpayers’ trust remained the Authority’s top priorities. He emphasized that digitalization, effective enforcement and expansion of the tax base were the foundations of sustainable revenue growth.
The Chairman warned officers against unnecessary delays in resolving public complaints and restricting their work to file processing. He directed that the mechanism for regularly monitoring pending complaints and obtaining feedback be further strengthened.
He further directed that digital and online facilities for taxpayers be made fully available to minimize the need for visits to PRA offices. 100 percent provision of digital and online facilities will be ensured to save taxpayers from unnecessary visits to PRA offices.
