LAHORE – Muslim Town Police have arrested five suspects and recovered thousands of kites and spools of dangerous kite string during a raid on a warehouse near Shah Di Khoi.
According to police officials, the operation was conducted following a tip-off about the alleged illegal storage of kites and hazardous string intended for sale without the required permits or licences.
The arrested suspects were identified as Umar, Saifullah, Hassan, Fakhar and Faheem. Police said they recovered approximately 6,000 kites and 300 spools of kite string from the warehouse.
A case has been registered against the suspects under the Kite Flying Act, and further legal proceedings are underway.
Authorities have repeatedly warned against the use and sale of hazardous kite string, which can cause serious injuries and fatalities, particularly among motorcyclists and pedestrians.
Police said enforcement operations aim to curb illegal kite-related activities and protect public safety. Residents have been urged to report suspicious storage or sale of prohibited kite materials to the relevant authorities.
The investigation will determine the suspects’ alleged involvement in the illegal trade and establish whether further action is required.
