LAHORE: Secretary General of the Institution of Engineers Pakistan (IEP) Engineer Ameer Zamir Khan has said that the nation’s pride has been restored as the world has started recognising Pakistan’s potential and achievements.
Addressing a Pakistan Independence Day ceremony held at the IEP Headquarters, Engineer Ameer Zamir Khan said that the country had entered a new phase where economic progress and development must become the top national priorities.
He said the efforts of the present government’s leadership were focused on strengthening Pakistan’s position in the economic arena and ensuring that the country makes its mark through growth, innovation and productivity.
“Our heads are held high today because Pakistan is being acknowledged by the world. Now the mission is to prove our capabilities in the economic field,” Ameer Zamir Khan said during his address.
He emphasised that engineers would play a key role in transforming Pakistan into a strong and prosperous economy. He described engineers as the “vanguard” of national development, saying that their expertise, dedication and technical knowledge could help overcome challenges and accelerate progress.
“Engineers are the frontline force of the country’s development. In the next two to three years, we have to demonstrate that Pakistan can emerge as an economic power,” he added.
The IEP Secretary General said that independence was not only a celebration of freedom but also a reminder of national responsibilities. He urged professionals, particularly engineers, to contribute towards building a modern Pakistan based on technology, innovation and sustainable development.
The ceremony was attended by senior engineers, professionals and members of the engineering community. The participants paid tribute to the sacrifices of Pakistan’s founding leaders and renewed their commitment to serving the country.
Engineer Ameer Zamir Khan highlighted that the engineering sector had a vital role in infrastructure development, industrial growth, energy solutions and technological advancement. He stressed the need for collaboration between the government, industry and professional institutions to achieve long-term economic goals.
He said that Pakistan’s young engineers possessed immense talent and could contribute significantly to national progress if provided with opportunities and platforms.
The Independence Day event concluded with a renewed pledge by the engineering community to support national development initiatives and work towards making Pakistan a stronger and economically self-reliant nation.
