KARACHI (Web Desk) – Karachi police have stepped up the investigation into the death of Mir Raza Ali by conducting fresh forensic examinations, recreating the crime scene and preparing for the exhumation of the victim’s body as investigators seek to determine whether the 25-year-old was murdered or died under other circumstances.
The latest phase of the investigation focused on scientific evidence after investigators revisited the location where Mir Raza Ali’s body was recovered. Senior police officers, members of the Crime Scene Unit and investigators from the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) participated in a detailed examination of the site to verify earlier findings and collect additional forensic evidence.
According to police officials, the Crime Scene Unit carried out a reconstruction exercise to examine the trajectory of a bullet casing. Investigators demonstrated how the firearm may have discharged and whether the shell casing could have landed at the location where it was originally recovered. The test reportedly produced results consistent with the earlier recovery of the casing, strengthening one aspect of the forensic investigation.
Officials said the reconstruction was supervised by the investigating officer to ensure that every detail was documented scientifically. The exercise forms part of a broader effort to establish an accurate sequence of events leading to Mir Raza Ali’s death.
Police have also continued search operations around the Nursery area, where the victim’s body was discovered. During the latest operation, investigators recovered another 30-bore pistol casing from a nearby location. The evidence has been sent to a forensic laboratory for ballistic examination to determine whether it matches any weapon connected to the case.
Investigators believe the forensic analysis of the recovered shell casings may help establish whether the shots were fired from the same weapon and could provide important clues regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Authorities said search operations have continued for several days under the supervision of senior police officials. Investigators have examined nearby roads, vacant plots and surrounding areas in an effort to recover additional evidence that may have been overlooked during the initial search.
In another significant development, police confirmed that Mir Raza Ali’s body will be exhumed for a comprehensive forensic examination. Officials said the exhumation will be conducted under court orders and supervised by an eight-member medical board comprising experienced forensic specialists, pathologists and medico-legal experts from leading medical institutions.
The board will carry out a detailed post-mortem examination aimed at determining the precise cause of death, identifying any previously undetected injuries and addressing questions raised by the victim’s family regarding the initial findings.
Investigators hope the second medical examination will clarify whether there were signs of torture, physical assault or other injuries before death. The results are expected to play a crucial role in determining the direction of the investigation.
Police officials maintained that every available piece of evidence is being examined, including forensic material, witness statements, surveillance footage and digital records. Authorities have already questioned multiple individuals connected to the victim and continue to analyze their statements alongside scientific evidence.
The case has attracted widespread public attention, prompting senior police officials to emphasize that the investigation is being conducted transparently and professionally. They said no conclusion has yet been reached regarding the exact circumstances of Mir Raza Ali’s death and that all possibilities remain under consideration until forensic reports are completed.
Officials added that modern forensic techniques, including ballistic analysis, crime scene reconstruction and medical examination, are central to the investigation and are expected to provide a clearer understanding of the events leading to the victim’s death.
Police reiterated that the investigation remains active and assured the public that every lead will be pursued until all facts are established and those responsible, if any criminal act is confirmed, are brought before the law.
