KARACHI (Web Desk) – Gold prices declined in Pakistan on Tuesday after weakness in the international bullion market pushed domestic rates lower, while silver prices continued to rise, according to the latest figures released by the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association (APSGJA).

The price of 24-karat gold decreased by Rs500 per tola, bringing the new rate to Rs427,936. The price of 10 grams of 24-karat gold also fell by Rs428, settling at Rs366,886 as local markets followed the trend in global bullion trading.

Internationally, gold prices slipped by $5 per ounce to $4,055, reducing the value of the precious metal in domestic markets where prices are largely determined by international rates and the rupee-dollar exchange rate.

Market analysts said the latest decline reflects normal fluctuations in the global bullion market, where investors continue to respond to changing economic indicators, monetary policy expectations and geopolitical developments.

Despite the decline in gold, silver prices moved higher in the domestic market. The price of 24-karat silver increased by Rs60 per tola, reaching Rs6,351, indicating continued investor interest in the metal.

Bullion traders said gold prices have remained volatile in recent weeks as international investors closely monitor inflation data, interest rate expectations and developments in major economies.

They explained that any movement in global gold prices is immediately reflected in Pakistan because the local market depends heavily on international trading trends and currency movements.

Jewellers said customer activity remained moderate despite the slight reduction in prices, with many buyers continuing to wait for further declines before making significant purchases.

According to traders, retail demand generally strengthens when prices stabilize, while sudden increases or decreases often encourage consumers to delay buying decisions.

Gold continues to be regarded as one of the most trusted investment options during periods of financial uncertainty. Investors frequently shift funds toward precious metals to protect wealth against inflation, currency depreciation and market volatility.

Financial experts noted that bullion prices remain sensitive to developments in global financial markets, particularly changes in US monetary policy and movements in the value of the US dollar.

A stronger dollar generally places downward pressure on gold prices because it makes the metal more expensive for buyers using other currencies, while expectations of lower interest rates often increase demand for gold.

Market participants are also monitoring geopolitical developments that could influence investor sentiment and increase demand for traditional safe-haven assets.

In Pakistan, gold prices are also affected by local factors, including import costs, taxation, currency exchange rates and overall demand within the jewellery market.

Jewellers expect business activity to improve during the upcoming wedding season, when demand for gold ornaments traditionally rises across the country.

Industry representatives said consumers should regularly check updated bullion rates before making purchases because prices can change several times during the trading day in response to international market movements.

They also advised buyers to purchase gold only from reputable dealers to ensure quality and authenticity.

Meanwhile, silver continues to attract attention from investors seeking a relatively affordable alternative to gold. Rising industrial demand and investment interest have supported silver prices despite fluctuations in the broader precious metals market.

Economic analysts believe bullion markets will likely remain volatile in the coming weeks as investors assess fresh economic data, central bank decisions and geopolitical developments affecting global financial markets.

Although Tuesday’s decline was modest, traders said international developments will continue to determine the direction of precious metal prices in Pakistan.

For now, market participants expect gold and silver prices to remain responsive to global economic conditions, leaving investors and consumers closely watching international bullion trends before making buying or investment decisions.
