LAHORE – Lahore Police have launched a modern one-window registration system for foreign nationals while continuing a major crackdown against criminal networks across the provincial capital, according to official reports issued by the police department.
Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana said the timely registration and verification of foreign citizens was essential for maintaining an effective immigration mechanism and strengthening the overall security framework.
He said registration and document verification of foreign nationals were being conducted through a modern digital system, with all related services being provided under one roof at the Foreigners Branch through a one-window facility.
The CCPO added that complete records regarding the arrival, departure and temporary stay of foreign nationals were being maintained through advanced technology to ensure better monitoring and coordination.
According to Lahore Police spokesperson, the Foreigners Branch registered the arrival of 447 foreign citizens, departure of 329 individuals, and temporary stay of 118 foreign nationals during the current year.
The data showed that among those arriving in Pakistan, 274 were Afghan nationals, 91 were Indian nationals and 82 were Somali citizens.
The departure record included 229 Afghan nationals, 62 Indian nationals and 38 Somali citizens, while the foreigners currently staying temporarily in the country included 45 Afghans, 29 Indians and 44 Somalis, police officials said.
Meanwhile, Lahore Police also reported significant progress in its campaign against organized crime during the ongoing year.
According to the police performance report, law enforcement agencies busted 1,559 criminal gangs and arrested 3,379 suspected gang members involved in serious crimes across Lahore.
Police recovered stolen valuables and cash worth more than Rs616.1 million from the arrested suspects.
The recovered property included 114 tolas of gold, 42 vehicles and 1,083 motorcycles, which were returned to their owners after completion of legal formalities.
Police also traced and handed over 4,006 stolen or snatched mobile phones and 46 laptops to citizens.
CCPO Bilal Siddique Kamyana said a comprehensive crackdown against criminal elements was continuing across Lahore and the process of returning recovered valuables to citizens was being carried out with complete transparency.
He directed supervisory officers to personally monitor crime-control measures in their respective jurisdictions and ensure effective law and order arrangements.
The CCPO further ordered the formation of specialised teams to intensify intelligence-based operations against criminal networks, proclaimed offenders and absconders.
He maintained that elements involved in organised crime would be brought to justice and dealt with according to the law.
