MUMBAI (Web Desk) – Actress Shehnaaz Gill has opened up about her much-discussed bond with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, saying the actor never treated her as a favourite contestant during Bigg Boss 13 but instead stood firmly by fairness and truth throughout the reality show’s run.
Speaking in a recent interview with Indian media, the actress reflected on her journey in the popular television show that transformed her into one of India’s most recognised entertainment personalities. She admitted that although many viewers believed Salman Khan gave her special attention, her own understanding of his approach changed as the competition progressed.
Shehnaaz said she initially assumed that she enjoyed a special place in the superstar’s eyes because of the encouragement she received during the show. However, she later realised that Salman Khan’s decisions and comments were guided by the circumstances of each situation rather than personal preference.
According to the actress, the Bollywood star consistently supported contestants who were right and never hesitated to criticise anyone, including her, whenever they made mistakes.
She explained that there were several occasions when Salman Khan praised her actions, but he was equally willing to reprimand her whenever he felt she had acted unfairly or emotionally. She said those moments helped her understand that his guidance was based on honesty rather than favoritism.
The actress described Salman Khan as someone who values fairness and believes in treating everyone with equal respect, regardless of their popularity inside or outside the show.
Shehnaaz added that his conduct behind the scenes reflected the same principles viewers witnessed during the televised episodes. She praised him for remaining humble despite his immense success in the film industry and for making every contestant and guest feel comfortable.
She also highlighted Salman Khan’s qualities as a television host, saying he welcomes every participant warmly and gives equal importance to all those who appear on his shows. According to her, his professionalism and ability to maintain balance among contestants contributed significantly to the credibility of the reality programme.
The actress said that while many fans continue to associate her with Salman Khan because of their memorable interactions on Bigg Boss 13, she believes the audience often misunderstood the nature of their relationship.
She emphasised that the superstar never extended support simply because he liked a contestant. Instead, he evaluated situations objectively and encouraged participants to improve themselves whenever necessary.
Bigg Boss 13 remains one of the most successful seasons in the history of the reality show. Shehnaaz Gill emerged as one of its most popular contestants due to her lively personality, emotional honesty and close friendship with the late actor Siddharth Shukla.
Her conversations with Salman Khan during the weekly episodes frequently went viral on social media, with viewers appreciating the friendly and humorous exchanges between the two.
Following the show’s conclusion, Shehnaaz continued to receive support from fans and gradually established herself in films, music videos and television appearances. She has also worked on projects associated with Salman Khan, further strengthening public interest in their professional relationship.
Despite ongoing speculation over the years, Shehnaaz has repeatedly maintained that she shares immense respect for Salman Khan and values the advice he offered during a crucial phase of her career.
Industry observers believe her latest remarks provide a clearer picture of the dynamic between the two celebrities, reinforcing the idea that Salman Khan’s role as Bigg Boss host has consistently focused on maintaining fairness rather than favouring individual contestants.
The actress concluded that the lessons she learned during Bigg Boss 13, particularly about accepting criticism and remaining true to herself, continue to influence both her personal life and professional journey.
