Lesco announces scheduled power outages for July 4 and 5

LAHORE (Web Desk) – The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has announced a scheduled electricity load-shedding plan for July 4 and 5, 2026, as part of its ongoing efforts to upgrade power infrastructure and improve the reliability of electricity supply across its distribution network.

According to an official notice issued by the utility, electricity supply will remain suspended in selected areas for several hours while engineers carry out essential maintenance, repairs and system upgrades. The company said the temporary shutdowns are necessary to ensure the safe execution of technical work and minimize the possibility of unexpected power failures in the future.

LESCO stated that the maintenance campaign will be conducted on a feeder-by-feeder basis, meaning different neighborhoods will experience outages at different times depending on their respective electricity feeders. Residents have been advised to consult the official feeder schedule to determine whether their locality will be affected during the two-day maintenance operation.

For July 4, several areas are expected to experience power interruptions between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., while additional feeder-specific shutdowns have also been planned for July 5. The company emphasized that the duration of outages may vary depending on the complexity of maintenance work and prevailing technical conditions.

Officials explained that the planned shutdowns are part of a broader strategy to modernize the electricity distribution system, replace aging equipment and improve the stability of the power network. Regular maintenance is considered essential for preventing equipment failures that often result in prolonged and unplanned outages affecting thousands of consumers.

The utility said maintenance teams will inspect transformers, repair damaged power lines, service distribution equipment and upgrade critical components within the electricity network. These improvements are expected to enhance operational efficiency and reduce technical faults during periods of high electricity demand.

LESCO further noted that carrying out maintenance under controlled shutdown conditions is safer for both technical staff and the public. Engineers require complete isolation of affected feeders before beginning repair work, ensuring that maintenance activities can be completed without risking accidents or damage to electrical equipment.

Consumers have been encouraged to make necessary arrangements in advance, particularly businesses, educational institutions and households that depend heavily on uninterrupted electricity. Residents are advised to charge electronic devices, ensure backup power systems are functional and plan essential activities around the scheduled outage timings.

Businesses operating in affected areas may also experience temporary disruptions, particularly industries, retail outlets and service providers that rely on continuous electricity. However, LESCO believes the short-term inconvenience will contribute to long-term improvements in service reliability and network performance.

Energy experts say preventive maintenance plays a vital role in maintaining the stability of electricity distribution systems. Timely replacement of aging infrastructure helps utilities reduce breakdowns, improve voltage stability and minimize emergency repair costs while extending the operational life of transmission and distribution equipment.

The maintenance campaign comes as electricity demand continues to fluctuate during the summer season, placing additional pressure on Pakistan’s power distribution network. Utilities across the country frequently conduct scheduled maintenance during periods of high demand to strengthen infrastructure and prevent large-scale outages.

LESCO has requested customers to cooperate with maintenance teams and avoid approaching electrical installations while repair work is underway. The company also warned consumers against relying on unofficial information circulating on social media and advised them to follow only verified updates issued through its official communication channels.

Officials added that every effort will be made to restore electricity immediately after maintenance activities are completed. In the event of unforeseen technical complications or adverse weather conditions, restoration times may be adjusted to ensure safe completion of the work.

The company reiterated that these planned shutdowns are intended to improve the overall quality of electricity services, strengthen grid reliability and reduce the frequency of unexpected power interruptions in the future. Consumers are encouraged to review the official feeder-wise schedule and remain prepared for temporary service interruptions during the maintenance period on July 4 and 5.
