KARACHI (Web Desk): Pakistani singer Asim Azhar has responded to criticism surrounding his cover of Tu Hai Wohi Dil Ne Jise Apna Kaha and his interaction with social media influencer Rajab Butt.

The singer’s rendition of the classic track drew mixed reactions online, with some users accusing him of ruining the original song. The controversy deepened after Rajab Butt posted a lip-sync video supporting the release. Asim thanked the influencer for the gesture, prompting criticism from users who questioned his decision to acknowledge the support.

Addressing the backlash through Instagram, Asim clarified that expressing gratitude to someone does not mean endorsing their opinions or values. He said he understood the concerns raised by fans and agreed with many of them, stressing that his response was simply an act of returning kindness and that the issue had been exaggerated.

In a light-hearted note, the singer encouraged fans to keep enjoying his latest music and the mango season.

Despite the clarification, debate continues online, with some fans insisting he should have rejected Rajab Butt’s support, while others believe he was unfairly criticised for later distancing himself from the influencer.
