LAHORE: On the special instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafique made a detailed visit to walled city Lahore on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha and reviewed the overall cleaning arrangements in Ravi Town Zone 5.

During this, the cleanliness situation was checked in the streets, narrow markets and important and public places of the walled city.

The Local Government Minister appreciated the performance of Town Manager Operation Mehwish Majeed and his team for timely cleaning, prompt removal of animal waste and overall discipline. She said that on a big occasion like Eid-ul-Adha, maintaining an effective sanitation system in a densely populated area like the walled city is a big challenge, which was handled well by the Walled City Suthra Punjab team. On this occasion, the Minister for Local Government was accompanied by Commissioner Lahore Division Maryam Khan, Deputy Commissioner Lahore Captain (R) Muhammad Ali Ijaz and Director General Suthra Punjab Authority Babar Sahab Din. Appreciating the leadership of Mehwish Majeed, the senior officials said that the efforts to make the walled city zero waste are a testament to the tireless work and effective strategy of a female town manager.

On this occasion, the town manager gave a detailed briefing to the delegation regarding the sanitation arrangements and said that this success is the result of the hard work of the entire team, who played a key role in keeping the city clean by working day and night during Eid-ul-Adha. He said that on normal days, more than a hundred tons of waste is collected from the walled city daily, while the cleaning process continues continuously in six hundred beats.
