LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly Public Accounts Committee has uncovered hundreds of bogus recruitments made during the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government, causing financial irregularities of Rs87 million in the irrigation department.
According to the committee’s report, recruitment processes violated merit, leading to the appointment of ghost employees. The committee has referred the matter to the National Accountability Bureau for further investigation.
Chairman of Public Accounts Committee One urged NAB to expedite its probe and ensure accountability of all officials involved in the scandal.
Secretary Irrigation Wasif Khurshid informed the committee that the department has already conducted an internal inquiry into the issue.
