QUETTA: The Balochistan government on Saturday fixed the price of Iranian petrol at Rs280 per litre and warned of strict action against those selling it at higher rates.

The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, where authorities agreed to regulate the sale of Iranian fuel across the province.
Officials said the subsidised petrol would be available only within Balochistan and would not be allowed to be transported to other provinces. Kalat Deputy Commissioner Munir Ahmed Durrani stated that no dealer would be permitted to charge above the officially fixed rate.
He emphasised that there was no justification for aligning Iranian petrol prices with the higher rates set by the federal government for imported fuel. Authorities will launch strict inspections and initiate legal action against violators.
The move comes after traders dealing in Iranian petrol raised prices to between Rs300 and Rs360 per litre following an increase in official petrol prices announced by the federal government. The provincial administration aims to curb profiteering and ensure affordable fuel for local residents.
